3 Tips For Students To Get More Done In Less Time

All of us acknowledge that studentship is the hardest time in a professional career. You have such an amount of information that your brain at some moment starts to refuse accepting it. All of us experience frustration, insomnia, and lack of time which lead to depression. It is the way to block your brain. How to start working 110% without causing any harm to the state of mind? Here are three main tips which you have never though of during the study.

1. Polyphasic sleep

Every student sleeps 5-6 hours per day. Some of them study late, others have a part-time job, and Friday night is party time for everyone. All of us have only 24 hours per day, and only 8-10 of them are productive, while we want to find out how to study better. Nikola Tesla and other famous scientists have already concluded that sleep takes too much time. Fortunately, there is a solution. Polyphasic sleep is a way of sleeping less at night and during the day. Have you ever thought why babies wake up every three hours? Or why old people don’t sleep 8 hours in a row at night? It is something we have deep in our genes.



Let's dive deeper

There are five types of polyphasic sleep:

• Biphasic. It is a so-called ‘siesta’ type when people sleep from five to seven hours per night and one 20 minutes nap during the day. Siesta takes place around 4 or 5 pm.

• Everyman. A person sleeps once during the night 1,5-3 hours and three times during the day 20 minutes each.

• Dymaxion. A person sleeps four times a day for 20 minutes every 5,5 hours.

• Uberman. A person takes a nap every 3.40 hours for 20 minutes.

Think about it closely. If you start practicing dymaxion or Iberian at 20 and live till 90, then you will have 11 years of additional active time. You might look more, if still in doubt. If this practice sounds unreal or doesn’t match your schedule, then try biphasic sleep. You may sleep 5-7 hours every day, but 20 minutes break every day will rice your efficiency. Before trying, do some research on this.

2. Eat healthy

We often don’t have time not only for study, sport or friends, but also to think about the food. In the most situations we get hungry, we find the nearest foodcourt and buy something full of sugar and coffee. At lunch, we buy pizza, buns, hotdogs, pancakes. It is hard to ignore the discount at your college dining room, but the choice of unhealthy food is reacher then healthy. One of the most important tips for college students is healthy nutrition. These products are the natural boost for your brain.

• Blueberries. This type of berries is extremely healthy for boosting short-term memory. It also supplies the body with a daily dose of vitamins.

• Oily fish. Salmon, tuna, and other seafood have not only protein but also essential fatty acids. Omega-3 acids help to keep your brain healthy and functional.




• Pumpkin seeds. Zinc is the essential ingredient in our memory and mood. This type of seeds is reacher for zinc than any other seed or nut.

• Eggs. Our brain is shrinking with age. This product can prevent this unpleasant process.

With these snacks, you will answer the question how to study effectively. None of the college dining room offers those products, but you can take it with you and eat during the break. It will save your time and boost your body and brain.

3. Train your memory with mnemotechnics

Every college teacher and professor have plenty of information to share. Only a few of them offer study skills, which explain how to transfer this information into long-term memory and use it in future. If your aim is to improve study skills, this is the first step which you need to train. The main idea of mnemotechnics is to transfer the information from your short-term memory to the long-term one. It is the core skill for every student. It includes the row of exercises and tricks of using associations and scheduled repetitions to transfer something deep into the suitable shell of your brain.
